Piddlin’ Surcies | Family Heirlooms

Some of the very best piddlin’ finds aren’t finds at all but may be given as sursies!!

The last time we went to NC was for a baby shower with family + friends of ours back in April! It was so sweet seeing everyone, especially my husband’s mom, brother, aunts, cousins + grandmothers.  We were so blessed to be showered by such lovely + beautiful gifts as well as most of the much needed items for the nursery + baby.

After the shower, we stopped by Grandma’s house to give a few hugs + kisses before hitting the road + she surprised us with two of the most beautiful family heirlooms that we are sure to treasure + hand down for years to come!

Some of the very best piddlin’ finds aren’t found, but are given as sursies!!

Such incredible family heirlooms! Thank you so much Grandma for letting us look after these gorgeous family mementos. We love you so much.

Piddlin’ Finds | Carolina Cane Chairs

These chairs really compliment our new to us antique table’s character + were found in Gibsonville, NC just NW of Greensboro where we spent the weekend taking in the ACC tournament- a huge tradition among basketball and all college athletics fans alike. It was fun getting a chance to spend time with Ryan’s dad leading up to his birthday too!

Here’s a close up look at the chairs when we found them in the antique mall…Ryan has gotten so good at finding these places that all I have to do is go along for the ride! See all of our recent trips on the “Past Piddlin’ Trip” page found up top!

and here’s one more of the beautifully unique table legs on this amazing find originally from the area near High Point, NC! The table belonged to a man who lives in Mt. Pleasant, who had inherited it from his mother, originally from that area in North Carolina! …we found it…..on Craigslist.  Definitely a case of an antique finding us…just meant to be.

Holiday Wrap Up

Happy Thanksgiving! Merry Christmas! and Happy New Year! Technically Christmas isn’t over until Friday, you know…but alas, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years have come and gone, and boy were they good to us! I wish I had found some more time to share our holiday treats with everyone but here’s a quick taste of a little bit of what we’ve been up to:

We made some *fabulous* turkeys!

Saw a few lighthouses on Oak Island and Bald Head Island and this cool antique light fixture that I would have liked to take home with me!

Chipper turned 4 in December!

We trekked to Asheville, NC to enjoy one of our favorite quick trips to see The Biltmore all decked out for Christmas! …even cut down our first fresh Christmas tree!

We decked the halls!

Rang in 2012 with party hats, noise makers, homemade bacon-wrapped scallops and Andre!

Oh yea and we had a big time having our engagement shots taken by sweet Sally Freshour! She’s amazing!!

With our engagement party fast approaching, I can’t help but think what a great start 2012 has made. Only 9 short months left ’til the BIG DAY! As far as the piddlin’ side of life, we have managed to squeeze in a few quick-stops here and there between our travels…check back in a bit to catch all the fun deets!
